If there is one thing I hope for, it is  that  human creativity in diverse fields can produce mechanisms for ensuring our long-term survival on this beautiful planet. On a personal level,  I hope in the near future to be able to get in contact with other artists who are interested in , for example, the effects of climate change and in the protection of biodiversity. My hope is  to use the production/ exhibition of our art to create awareness of these key issues. For myself, my goal is that  a percentage  of my art sales be be used in support of various organizations/events , specifically those engaged in animal welfare. These issues are global and we can respond locally and globally. as regards the latter,  it has been particularly heartbreaking to see the effect of the wildfires on animal life these past months in Australia.

Creativity and the brain https://art-by-carla.dk/en/blog-bits-uk/41-creativity-and-the-brain https://art-by-carla.dk/en/blog-bits-uk/41-creativity-and-the-brain

I also teach about creativity, cognition and the brain so  sometimes its just interesting to see where research is taking us in exploring the complex and multifaceted aspects  of creativity. An emerging field is that of Neuroaesthetics, where the focus is on understanding brain processes as regards the aesthetics. There  has been ongoing debates for a very long time about whether or not it matters that we can identify brain processes as regards the experience of beauty.  There are many who would argue that it’s irrelevant as what really matters is the subjective experience of finding beautyAnd being able to experience and relate to it. What makes for interesting reading is the huge field of research exploring definitions and mechanisms of creativity.I really enjoyed the systemic models that focus on creativity not as a purely individual act but highlights the value and meaning of context. Also, the Cognitive processes inherent to producing a creative product is fascinating.

Welcome to my Homepage https://art-by-carla.dk/en/ttest https://art-by-carla.dk/en/ttest With my Italian and Portuguese ancestors, a South African childhood,  and family bonds in Australia, I suppose I am in many ways a global citizen.

Today, I live and work in Denmark, but before settling in Copenhagen, I studied in the USA obtaining a  Ph.D. in Psychology  and Post Doctorate in  Clinical Neuropsychology as well as a a M.A. in Theology.

As regards art, I have always drawn and painted, and have been tutored privately and at art schools in South Africa, California, USA and Denmark, from traditional drawing techniques to the use  of pastels, watercolours and acrylics.

My initial training  was in realism but with continued  experimentation, I  have shifted to a more symbolistic orientation, working mostly with acrylics and mixed media. In some ways, my psychological and cross cultural background as well as spiritual explorations have influenced this transition.

I invite you to have a look at my past and current explorations. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or requests.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Warmly, Carla
